Hello, and welcome to my wizard guide. In-game im known as DontPlayWithFire ( Dp ) on Sun and Moon. I have been playing wizard for about 3 years now, and ive had most gear and tried most things a wizard could. I have tried restatting skills a few times to learn the class better and i’ve come far from where i started out.
We all started out in green scarp, we we’re newbs, new to the game and we were shy to other people. This guide is to help you out with your class, if that is a wizard ofcourse. And if not, what are you doing here? just joking. Some of the things in the guide may be useful for other classes aswell so read on, hope you find some use for it.
*NOTICE*
Inlay gems was added to the game AFTER this guide was written, so i will not cover anything regarding those, feel free to look at this inlay guide written by a friend : www.mcgameland.com/viewthread.jsp

This may seem useless to some but to those of you who dont know it will help you understand what people are talking about.
Aoe - Area of effect
Dot - Damage over time
Dps - Damage per second
Ts or spout - Refering to the skill ’Tide spout’ the level 30 blade skill
Aggro - Aggro is what happens when you run into a mobs range, the mob will ’aggro’ to you and attack you. Aggro also happens when you attack mobs, and the one with the most aggro will have the mobs attention, i will discuss this further later in the guide.
Kiting - Kiting is a term to discribe the process of strategically moving away from your target and thus avoid getting hit. This is more important for wizards than people seem to realize, its often the diffrence between death and victory, i will also discuss this later.
Tank - Used to discribe a damage taker which is usually a monk or assassin. Wizards can also tank, however more often or not you are going to spam mana pots to do so, which is quite frustrating. If you want to tank maybe you should consider the monk class instead.
Int - Intelligence, a stat which increase damage slightly and increase cs rate and mana.
Vit - Vitality, a stat which increase hp.
Def - Defense, decrease the damage you take.
Res - Resistance, decrease magic damage you take.
Now that we have that out of the way we can start with the important things.
Pros
Wizard is without a doubt the best aoe’ing class in the game, with that said it doesnt mean other classes cant aoe also ( except for fairy.)
Wizard ( along with tamer ) is the dps classes of the game, they are used in caves thanks to their aoe and useful skills on bosses.
Wizard can do good both solo and in team, so even if you cannot find a party to help you. You can just go solo till you find one.
Wizard is the only class that can remove stun, this makes us a very good PvP class.
Wizard can clear out caves fast by themselves thanks to the amazing aoes, this ofcourse depend on the strength of you and difficulty of the cave.
Wizards have more int than other classes.
Cons
We have the lowest defense and hp of all classes. It isnt much different from tamer and fairy though, not enough to matter.
We dont solo bosses as well as other classes, but just because we dont do it as good, doesnt mean we cant do it.
Alot of our skills cost alot of mana, which is forexample fire burst which at lvl 70 will cost 1179 mana. However as i said, we have more int which means more mana.
Most of our skills have casting time, and those skills will sometimes take longer to cast if we’re being attacked
EQUIPMENT
Alot of players dont know which gear to choose, but i will try to explain the ’best’ gear you can possibly get.
While you’re lvling from 1-70, you should just try and get some int/cs blue equipment and combine it to +3-6 or so, it will be good enough to level, and you shouldnt have any problems.
But once you reach 70+ you will want to start working on the gear you will be using for PvP and other End game activities.
Now this is actually a bit tricky, i cant say for sure which is going to be best because the 70-80 set might be released soon, and i dont know the exact stats of it, also the 60-70 purple sets could be released, and i dont know the stats of those either. So therefore i have a hard time recommending the best possible equipment, so i will just say that at this is the best right now, it may very well not be in the next patch, so keep that in mind if you choose to get this equipment.
Right now, for PvP the best set a Wizard can have is 4 Loos and 2 PvP(sword) or 4 PvP 2 Loos (blade) For blade you could replace those 2 loos with something else, like getting a full pvp set instead, or 2 golden CS pieces, its up to you. But for swords users theres no better combination of gear at this point.
Once the 70-80 gear is released, it may be better to mix and match int/cs with int/vit gear, since the 70 set will have alot more defense and resistance.
But there are plenty of ways to build a good wizard, so i will just say this, if you wish to PvP, you want to aim for as much CS rate as possible, without sacrificing alot of HP, that is why PvP purple set is good (vit/cs), aswell as loos for sword due to a bonus of 5% cs rate for sword if 4 pieces are equipped.
Just dont use full loos set in PvP, epic beginner mistake. However i will explain the PvP equipment a bit further in the guide.
For Pve at 70+, a golden int/cs set will do wonders, you will have alot of mana and alot of damage to take down bosses fast with a team. This set is perfect for farming CwC. Just keep in mind that in PvP with this set, you’ll be a glass cannon.
As for weapons and assiststants, try and get Dual stat weapon, and single stat vit assistants. Also get some dual stat high int assiststants for the use of PvE only.
WEAPON SKILLS
We have a decent amount of skills to choose between and those skills are as listed.
-Sword skills-
Fire strike - available at level 1, skill points increase damage by up to 30% when its maxed. its the best single target skill you have, max it.
Fire barb - available at level 1, skill points increase damage by 25% at maxed, but also increase casting time by 0.5 seconds. its good to engage a battle but except for that i dont find it useful, it has good damage but takes too long to cast, especially if you’re being attacked. Skip it.
Fire dragon - available at level 7, skill points increase damage on the burning effect by up to 40% when its maxed. its a good skill, i use it all the time, but the skill points would be wasted on it. skip it.
Fire spiral - available at level 15, skill points increase stun time by 2.5 seconds when maxed. a good skill in duels, and sure the extra stun time would be awesome, but we really dont have enough points for it. Unless you’re planning on only dueling casters and not doing pve or anything else, skip it.
Fire burst - available at level 25, skill points increase its cs rate by up to 25% when maxed. this is the reason you use swords, its an aoe skill that hits up to 5 enemies nearby with good damage, but at a large mana cost. definently max it.
Improve fire damage - available at level 10, skill points increase fire damage by 10% when maxed. max it.
Improve cs rate - available at level 10, skill points increase cs rate with swords by 5% when maxed. max it.
Improve cs damage - available at level 10, skill points increase cs damage by up to 50% when maxed. why wouldnt you max this? seriously.
-Blade skills-
Water fling - available at level 5, skill points increase damage by 20% when maxed. i prefer this over barb, i would max it.
Water barb - available at level 10, skill points decrease mana cost by 30% when maxed. some prefer still skill over fling, and sure its useful, but i hate having long cast time.
Ice fling - available at level 5, skill points decrease cooling time by 10 seconds when maxed. this skill is very useful, however i wouldnt put skills points on it, unless i was a strict blade user and needed them for duels aswell.
Water flowing - available at level 20, skill points increase the damage buff by 50% when maxed. this is a spamable damage skill, although it does cost alot of mana but definently awesome anyway. i never found the debuff on it that useful, i wouldnt put points on it.
Tide spout - available at level 30, skill points decrease targets move speed by 50% when maxed. this is an awesome aoe skill that hits targets in selected area for 10 seconds and decrease their movement speed, however it has a high chance of getting canceled if you get attacked, so be sure to keep distance from the mobs when you use it. i would max it.
Improve water damage - same as with swords, just water version. max it
Improve cs rate - same as with swords, just water version. max it
Improve cs damage - same as with swords, just water version. max it
ASSISTANT SKILLS
Unlike some classes, wizards will have enough skill points to max all their skills on assistants.
-Ice shield-
Ice curse -decrease a single targets move speed by 80% for 5 seconds and does a little damage this is quite useful since it has no casting time.
Ice shield - increase your defense, more defense is always good. it also has a chance to slow your target when they hit you, which is useful for luring or kiting.
-Longbrow needle-
Inspiring art - increase int of yourself or others, more int means more damage, cs rate and mana...awesome.
Pointing faint - faints mob for 35 seconds. Not a very useful skill, and you most likely wont be wearing this assistant anyway.
-Warm jade-
Silence spell - decrease your ’aggro’. You should try and get a staff monk to tank, you wont need this then, but if you cant find a monk, spam this.
Sobering spell - removes stun instantly. This is one of the most awesome skills we get, its not very useful in PvE, but this makes you one of the best in high level PvP.
-Tao symbol-
Tao power - removes a buff from target. Its very useful in PvP for removing such things as shield or hp buffs.
Earth faint - faint up to 5 targets around you and deals decent damage. its a very good skill, both pve and pvp. especially useful to use tidespout, then when mobs get near you, use this and then kite and use tidespout again.
Kiting
Kiting is actually quite easy, you do it to take less damage. its what the monks and assassins refer to as "stop running nub". Now you may think that with a wizard and the casting time kiting is impossible, but no, forexample there are small gaps between each of your hits, when those happen you just step back a bit.
Skills such as Ice curse, tide spout, ice fling and earth faint are nice tools for kiting, use them wisely and you can avoid alot of damage.
When you’re leveling, also kite, and if you have took on more mobs than you could handle, reset them. Better to lose 10 seconds of your time than losing your exp and dying just cause you have the kill fever.
Kiting is more useful in pvp than pve really, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt do it in pve. In pve kiting is a good thing to do if you’re a sword wiz, use fire burst, run around and wait for recharge instead of just standing there taking hits. This is even better if you have a blade wizard using tide spout to slow them and reduce the damage further.
Agro
(enemy value)
When doing caves or bosses, you may wanna give the tank a few seconds to get some hits in before you start attacking. Otherwise you could risk aggroing the boss, and your team will hate you for the rest of your life, they will put your name on world chat and you may aswell quit the game. well, maybe not, but dont do it anyway.
Nothing more annoying than when someone aggroes and gets the team killed, now dont get me wrong, its not neccesarily your fault. The tanker could have dced or stopped attacking without you noticing it. But if you should happen to aggro a hard boss that can easily kill your team, i suggest you run away and reset it unless the tank can get aggro back and save the day.
Personally i like having monks to tank, monks have the highest aggro of all ( staff ones ) and even if someone should happen to aggro, they got a skill that gives them aggro back for 15 seconds and if that happens then stop attacking and let him regain the aggro within those 15 seconds.
Most of the times i need a monk tank cause assassins can have problems keeping aggro from me and yeah sure you can say i attack too soon, but really, its not my fault the tank cant hold aggro, i was made to do damage. if im not allowed to attack, whats the point? If you have an assassin tanking, be sure to use Silence spell to decrease your own aggro.
PVE
Wizards are pretty easy to grind with, you kill your foes pretty fast, and you can easily find a party to grind with.
The regular mobs in talisman are all quite easy, and the normal bosses dont get hard till the lvl 65+ bosses. Therefore its quite easy to level up just by grinding, however you will most likely do a cave from time to time, and this is where there may be a challenge.
Once you hit level 61 things change a bit, you can enter moon dragon village and this area is very diffrent from other grind areas you have been in before. Mobs here are harder, and some bosses also have special skills aoe etc, for most bosses you will probably need a team unless you have good gear, but if you have joined a guild it shouldnt be a problem getting a quick 5 minute helping hand.
Caves
Cave mobs and bosses are alot harder than regular mobs and bosses, and some of them have special skills and aoes. You shouldnt go into a cave without a team unless you know for sure its a cave you can handle on your own. if the cave is around your own level then you probably cant, and shouldnt even try.
A normal cave team would usually consist of a tank, 2-3 damagers and 1-2 fairies. Since theres 2-3 damagers, you have a higher the chance of getting a team, good for you. However, theres almost always someone whos better than you, and the team may prefer bringing that person over you.
I highly recommend getting in a guild and make friends so you can go caves with them, its the easiest way of leveling, and you will gain alot of good game experiences that way.
Your job in the cave is to..well, damage. As a wizard the team will depend on you to aoe the mobs and kill them fast, before they kill the team atleast. You also assist on the bosses, taking them down faster and saving you time is always good.
You can support your team in many ways however, as a sword wizard i usually try and gain as much aggro as possible on mobs, therefore i take the damage and the rest of team doesnt. This however isnt a very good idea unless you have good gear. I also recommend to use blades unless you can afford atleast +7 gear ( for the higher caves.)
Mana
Mana can be quite a pain, but there are many ways to ease this pain.
Pets : You can buy mini pets from ingame shop which can increase your amount of mana AND make you regenerate your mana faster, alot faster actually. They can be a bit costy however, but they are without a doubt worth it. And the more int you have, the more mana the pet is going to regenerate.
There is also a few diffrent types of mana pots.
Theres ofcourse the ones you buy from the apothecary. Theres pots that will regenerate 225 or 675 mana over 15 seconds. Theres some that will regenerate from 150 mana, to 2300 mana instantly this however has a 3 minute cooldown. Theres also charms that can be made using living skills:
The charms also heal for 150-2300, it heals that over 10 seconds and you have to wait for them to charge up, can be canceled if you get attacked ( pretty much same as using tidespout.) A good thing about them however is that you can also use them on teammates, but you have to stand pretty close to them to use them on others. To get these charms you need to get the living skills "collect ore" and "make charm". You get those skills from the blacksmith npc.
I would say 8k mana is the minimum at level 70, and more is definently recommended. No such thing as too much mana.
A good way to get more int is to get 2 pieces of loos, these will good int and 2 pieces of loos will give another 90 bonus int. It also adds a good amount of hp.
Int/cs is ofcourse the way to get the highest mana possible, but you also have to worry about your hp.
Health
Now hp really isnt that much of a problem for a wizard in pve, pvp is obviously a different thing.
You do however need to get atleast some, especially if you are using swords. A dead wizard is a useless wizard.
There are also pets and pots for hp which work pretty much same way as the mana ones.
A good way to get your hp up is the mentioned loos, it adds both int/vit/dodge which is very useful. However i dont like the full set, too low cs rate for my taste. Therefore a good way to get both is to get 2 pvp pieces, 2 pvp pieces gives vit/cs and adds another 65 vit in bonus.
You can also also put signature on your gear at the ascetic fuhu ( same guys that does soul infusion.) Signature can be put on any gear you have with the exception of talismans. The signed gear cannot be traded or sold, but you can remove the signature again at fuhu, but it will take 48 hours before its removed.
Now what signature does is quite useful, it adds 10 vitality per signed piece of gear, if all gear is signed its another 100 vit. However the piece of gear you sign needs to have the required level of altleast 20, which means items such as meteor amulets cannot be signed since they are level 1.
There is also rings to increase your hp and mana regen, i suggest using those when doing cave bosses and such. They come in vit/dodge/manaRegen/hpRegen form and vit/cs/manaRegen/hpRegen form, get the cs ones. Theres also green ones that only gives mana and hp regen, but blue/golden ones give more and also dodge or cs.
Thank you all for reading and i hope it was of any use to you.
If you have any questions, feel free to post a comment and i will try to respond.
